Daniel Bishop Obituary

Daniel Lee Bishop  of St. Charles. Age 64, passed away Saturday, November 6, 2021, at the Hospice House of Shiawassee County.

Daniel was born in Saginaw, April 17, 1957, the oldest of eight children to Victor and Jacqueline Bishop of Maple Grove, and graduated from New Lothrop High School in 1975.  He was united in marriage to SueAnn Taylor on May 5, 1984.  Together they were married for 37 years and had 3 sons.

Daniel worked as a Pipefitter for Truck & Bus, Flint, Retiring in 2015, as a result of his Parkinsons diagnosis.   He also owned his own business Buck-A-Benders Mechanical Contractor for over 20 years.  He loved to manufacture, weld, and build many items used in the yard, or trailers to haul wood and tractors.  He was a “Jack-of-all-Trades” until Parkinson’s made it difficult to tinker.

Daniel  collected Farmall and International tractors.  He was especially proud to find his grandfather Alphonse Bishop’s 1945 Farmall H tractor and an 1944 I-9 International tractor that was used by the Navy and had them both restored, displaying them and others at Mid Michigan Old Gas Tractor.  One of his proudest moments was watching his son Travis drive the I-9 across the Mackinac Bridge.

Daniel was a member of the Knights of Columbus for over 40 years.

He recently commented that he is very thankful for his friends and family and their support during his journey;  He would also like them  to know, “that he worked hard, never turning down the opportunity to work, always looking forward to retirement and the ability to do anything he wanted, having all of his “ducks in a row”, and “boy did he wish he had taken some time out to enjoy life along the way”.

Daniel is survived by his wife SueAnn, and sons Terry and Travis (Katherine) Bishop; Siblings Kim (Mike) Tobias, Steve (Sue) Bishop, Victoria Bishop, Doug (Michele) Bishop, Leon Bishop, Robert (Delora) Bishop, and Phill Bishop; Brothers-in-Law Jeff (Brenda) Taylor, Doug Taylor, Scott Taylor; Father-in-law Daniel Taylor; Aunts, Uncles, Cousins, nieces & nephews, as well as a large and amazing group of friends.

He is pre-deceased by a son Taylor J. Bishop (2017) his mother-in-law Geri Taylor and his parents.

Per Daniel’s wishes cremation has taken place.  The Family will have a Celebration of Life at St. Peter Parish Hall on Thursday, November 11 from noon until 4pm, with prayer, sharing, and rosary from 4-5pm.  Dan was a simple man, no suit or tie required, dress comfortable – he would.

The family would like to thank The Hospice House of Owosso for  welcoming the entire Daniel Bishop Family into their home and for the quality of care they gave Dan in his last 7 days and the Memorial Hospice Team for helping the family maneuver thru Dan’s last 100+ days.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to the wishes of the family, or plant a tree, as over time, Dan has planted over 1000 trees. You may light a memorial candle or share a memory at misiukfuneralhome.com.
