Charles E. Sutter Jr. Obituary

Charles E. Sutter Jr. of Oakley passed away Monday, May 31, 2021, at his home peacefully surrounded by his family.  He was 80 years of age.
 
Charles was born in Owosso on December 8, 1940, the son of Mae (Ralph) and Charles E. Sutter, Sr.  Charles Jr. graduated from Our Lady Catholic School in the Class of 1958.  He was one of 23 graduates that year.  He was united in marriage to Judy M. Hawn at the former Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church in Chesaning (now St. Peter Parish) and they would have celebrated 60 years of marriage on July 29, 2021. 
 
Mr. Sutter was a fire prevention sprinkler fitter and a member of Road Sprinkler Fitters Local 669.  He was initiated into the union in 1961.  He was a lifetime member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help/St. Peter Parish Church.  He was a proud member of the Mid-Michigan Old Gas Tractor Association (M.M.O.G.T.A.) and served as its Bar Chairman and Jack of all Trades for over 30 years.  Charlie was an avid hunter and a master cobbler and was in the process of restoring his 1955 T-Bird.  He liked riding his Harley, going mud bogging and trail riding.  He enjoyed going to the races and traveling to Florida with his wife, Judy.  Most of all, Charlie loved being with his family, especially all his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and going to their activities.
 
Charlie is survived by his beloved wife, Judy; their children, Rick (Marie) Sutter of Brant, Carla (Greg) Wendling of New Lothrop, and Randy Sutter of Chesaning; grandchildren, Mellissa (Joe) Grammatico of Brant, Rick Sutter Jr. of Owosso, Lindsay (Gregory) Deneen of New Lothrop, Courtney (Jacob) Buck of St. Charles, Austin Powelson of Oakley, Dakota Sutter of Chesaning, and Shyanne Sutter of Chesaning; great-grandchildren, Gianna, Salvatore, and Isabella Grammatico and Jack Deneen; a sister, Carol Ann Kreger of Oakley; a brother, John (Peg) Sutter of Chesaning; many nieces and nephews; and other extended family and gobs of friends.  He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother and sister-in-law, David and Marianne Sutter; brother-in-law, Dave Kreger: and nephews, Little Johnny Sutter and Chris Kreger.
 
A private graveside service will be held at Resurrection Cemetery of Chesaning 1:30 p.m. Sunday, June 27, 2021.  His family would like to extend an invitation to his relatives and friends to gather in a Celebration of Life to be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, June 19, 2021 at the MMOGTA Tractor Grounds, 17189 W.
