Charles (Dragutin) Lipa Obituary
LIPA, Charles (Dragutin) – of New Haven Twp., died Saturday, July 11, 2026, at U of M Sparrow Hospital in Lansing. He was 76 years of age.
Charles was born November 15, 1949, in Novi Glog, Yugoslavia to the late Josip and Bonzia (Kukal) Lipa. He immigrated to the USA in 1966 and resided in the Chesaning/Oakley areas until early 2000’s moving to the family farm in New Haven Twp. He was a 1969 graduate of Chesaning Union High School and earned a degree in Civil Engineering from MSU. Mr. Lipa retired as a Senior Engineer from GTE/Verizon in 1999. He enjoyed being a beekeeper, gardening, coin collecting and a frequent flyer of the casino. He also did crop farming in his younger years and was an avid soccer fan.
Surviving are: daughters: Maria (Timothy) Barkell of Brant, Annie (Andrew) Botimer of Morrice, Serra Lipa of Owosso; the mother of the girls, Linda; daughter, Aleksandra (Davor) Drvis of Croatia; 8 grandchildren: Dawson, Dallas, Devyn, Ivy, Alden, Vinny, Luka, and Hanna; brothers: Auton “Toni” (Maria) Lipa of Croatia, Tom (Patricia) Hornak of Corunna; several nieces and nephews. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Jasna Penica-Lipa.
