Betty Theanna (Smith) Vance

VANCE, Betty Theanna – of Albee Twp., died Saturday, January 15, 2022 at Riverglens Assisted Living. She was 98 years of age.

Betty was born September 5, 1923 in Pickerington, OH to the late Herbert Eugene and Rachel Caroline (Gerard) Smith. She was a resident of Albee Twp. for 34 years, retired to South Branch for 24 years, then returned to Albee Twp. for 16 years. She was united in marriage to Robert Vance on December 31, 1949. He preceded her in death on November 6, 2006. She and her husband operated Vance Grocery store on M-13 for several years. She then retired from Roycraft in 1981. Betty was a member of Burt Road Bible Church and was a Union Rep while at Roycraft. She enjoyed crocheting, crafting, walking, bowling, and playing shuffleboard.

Surviving are: daughters, Dawn Englehart of Fairview and Maryann (Jon) Hosner of Albee Twp.; 15 grandchildren; 45 great-grandchildren; 16 great-great-grandchildren; brother, Roy (Gayle) Smith of WA; many nieces and nephews. She was also preceded in death by: son, Robert Vance Jr. in 2001; 8 brothers and sisters: Lenora Roy, George Smith-Johnson, Cora Layer, Donald Smith, Edith Brainerd, Alma McConnell, Dewey Smith and Hazel Spencer.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, January 20, 2022 at Misiuk Funeral Home in Chesaning. Pastor Jerry Larkin officiating. Burial to follow in Pinegrove Cemetery, Albee Twp.
