Benny J. Sims Obituary

SIMS, Benny J. – of Chesaning, died Saturday, January 14, 2023, at his residence. He was 73 years of age.

Benny was born February 14, 1949 in Detroit to the late Eldon and Dorothea (Diemert) Sims and was a resident of the Chesaning area most of his life. He served in the US Marine Corp from 1966 – 1972. Mr. Sims was a police officer in the Chesaning area from 1975 – 1998 and volunteered for Valley Ambulance during that time. He was a member of the American Legion Chesaning Post #212. Benny enjoyed hunting.

Surviving are: children: Alesha Conklin of Chesaning, Ben Sims (fiancé Tammy), Carrie (Phillip) Harris both of Oakley; 9 grandchildren; 9 great grandchildren; sisters, Darlene “Dolly” Rodriguez of Chesaning and Sandra (Frank) Young of St. Charles; many nieces and nephews. He was also preceded in death by: daughter-in-law, Heidi Sims in 2012; a brother and sister-in-law, John and Phyllis Sims; brother in-law, Rod Rodriguez; nephews, Jamie Willits, Jack Willits, and Charles Sims; and a niece,

Christina Sims.

Cremation has taken place. Inurnment in Great Lakes National Cemetery will be at a later date. Contributions in his memory may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital or the American Legion Chesaning Post #212. You may light a memorial candle or share a memory at misiukfuneralhome.com.
