Arthur P. Early, formerly of Oakley, passed away Sunday afternoon, March 15, 2020 at Memorial Healthcare, Owosso. His age was 77 years.
Arthur was born in Owosso on March 23, 1942, a son of the late Kenneth and Arline (Reed) Early. Arthur had lived in the Owosso, Chesaning, and Oakley areas all his life. He graduated from Chesaning Union High School in the Class of 1961. He was united in marriage to Evelyn Sovis in Owosso on May 9, 1964.
Mr. Early had owned and operated “The Men’s Concern” stores in Chesaning and Birch Run. He had also owned and serviced self-serve car washes in the area. Arthur was a former Chief of Police in Brady Twp. and authorized with badges from both Saginaw County and Shiawassee County Sheriff’s Department. He was very active and a Past President of the Chesaning Area Conservation Club and also served as one of their Hunter Safety instructors. Arthur was an avid hunter and loved spending time with his family and dogs at his cottage property up north. He enjoyed attending gun shows and especially buying and selling commemorative Winchester guns.
Those left to cherish his memory include his beloved wife of 55 years, Evelyn; their children, daughter, Tara (Patrick) McNamara of Flushing, and son, Erin Early of Custer; three grandchildren, Brody, Cassidy, and Thomas McNamara; brother, Richard (Laura) Early of Birch Run; sister, Wendy Williams of Owosso; several nieces and nephews; and other loving family and friends.
Cremation has taken place and no services are planned at this time.
