Victor H. Bishop of Maple Grove, age 85, passed away Thursday afternoon, July 12, 2018, at the Cartwright Hospice Residence in Saginaw. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, July 16, 2018, at St. Michael Catholic Church of Maple Grove, 17994 Lincoln Road, New Lothrop. Fr. John Cotter will celebrate the Mass. Burial with Military Funeral Honors will follow at St. Michael Catholic Cemetery of Maple Grove. Visitation will be from 1:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Sunday at the Misiuk Funeral Home of Chesaning with a Knights of Columbus Rosary Service at 7:00 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. His family will be present at the church to welcome relatives and friends from 10:00 a.m. Monday until time of the Mass at 11:00 a.m.
Victor was born in Maple Grove on May 19, 1933, the son of the late Alphonse and Mary (Martin) Bishop. He was a lifetime resident of Maple Grove and graduated from St. Michael’s High School. He was a proud Veteran of the US Army, having served as a MP during the Korean War era. He was united in marriage to Jacqueline H. Birdsley on June 9, 1956. They were married for over 52 years before she passed away on May 26, 2009.
Victor was a Master Plumber and owned the former General Repair in Chesaning. He was a lifetime member of the Knights of Columbus and a Past Grand Knight of St. Christopher Council #2943 for two years, 1975 and 1976. Victor was an avid bowler and played on several leagues. He also enjoyed golfing.
Those left to cherish his memory are his eight children, Daniel (Susan) Bishop of St. Charles, Kimberly (Michael) Tobias of Dexter, Steven (Susan) Bishop of Maple Grove, Victoria Bishop of Saginaw, Douglas (Michele) Bishop of Maple Grove, Leon Bishop of Oakley, Robert (Delora) Bishop of Maple Grove, and Phillip Bishop of Maple Grove; fourteen grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; seven sisters, Virginia, Rita, Elizabeth, Rosie, Katherine, Grace, and Maryanne; many nieces and nephews; and other loving family and friends. Those who passed away before him include his parents; his beloved wife, Jacqueline; two brothers, Eugene and Kenneth; and a grandson, Taylor Bishop, on July 3, 2017.
