Ronald W. Devereaux of Brant, age 75, passed away early Wednesday morning, December 13, 2017, at HealthSource Saginaw. His funeral service will be held 2:00 pm Saturday, December 16, 2017, at the Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church, 133 Commercial Street, Chesaning. Pastor Joel W. Thomford will officiate. Burial will follow at Brant Township Cemetery. Visitation for Mr. Devereaux will be from 2:00 pm to 8:00 pm Friday at the Misiuk Funeral Home of Chesaning. On Saturday, his family will be at the church to greet relatives and friends from 1:00 pm until time of the funeral service.
Ronald was born in Saginaw, Michigan on July 30, 1942, the son of Ralph and Myra (Mitchell) Devereaux. Ronald was made a child of God through baptism on April 1, 1945, and confirmed in Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church in Chesaning by Pastor Schultz on March 19, 1967. He was involved in the Church as its Financial Secretary.
Ron was a US Veteran. He was drafted into the Army and honorably served in South Vietnam in 1965. He was given recognition in form of the Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal.
Ron married Jean Mary Bleisner at Christ Lutheran Church in Oakley on February 25, 1967. They were blessed with two daughters, Sarah and Jill. Ron has lived in Brady Township, Saginaw, Allegan, Kalamazoo, and finally in Brant, Michigan. He worked in the lumber industry most of his career buying and selling hardwood lumber. Gardening was his hobby and he planted grape vines and made homemade raspberry, blueberry, and grape wine. Ron enjoyed camping with Jean’s brothers and sister. He loved nature. He went deer hunting, but never got a deer. Ron loved visiting his grandkids.
Ron is survived by his beloved wife of 50 years, Jean; their loving daughters, Sarah (Rich) Rasmer and Jill (Scott) Kemerer; his grandchildren whom he adored, Eva Rasmer, Cecilia Rasmer, Calista Rasmer, Olivia Kemerer, and Brandon Kemerer; his mother, Myra Devereaux; his brothers, Robert (Joyce) Devereaux, David Devereaux (Cindy Hinkel), Brian (Dawn) Devereaux; his sisters, Joan (Mike) Drexler and Susan Eggleston; and other loving family and friends.
Charitable donations may be given in memory of Ron to the Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church.
