Richard C. "Dick" Guziak formerly of Oakley, Michigan, age 85, passed away at his residence in Los Angeles, California.
Richard was born on March 28, 1933, in Chicago, Illinois to the late Frank and Mary (Cienki) Guziak. Richard attended schools in Oakley, Owosso, and Big Rapids, Michigan before honorably serving our country in the 1950's as a Corporal with the Seventh Infantry in the US Army.
During his military service, Dick was stationed in California and Alaska. His dislike for cold weather and the warmth and beauty of the mountains and ocean of the west coast prompted him to return to California for most of his life.
Richard was a free spirit with a unique sense of humor who loved nature, animals, and spending his days out-of-doors. In his youth, he enjoyed playing baseball and excelled as a pitcher for the local teams. While living in Michigan, he was employed with the Ternstedt Division of General Motors Corporation in Flint, Michigan.
Richard was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Mary Guziak; his older brother, John; and a nephew, Brian Peet. He is survived by his sister, Kathryn (Doug) Corrin of Chesaning; his brother, Joe (Donna) Guziak of Chesaning; sister-in-law, Marion Guziak of Owosso; and many nieces and nephews.
Cremation has taken place. A private interment will be held later.
