Rev. Esteban "Steve" Rosas  Escamilla, Sr.

Of Chesaning, Michigan

Passed away Wednesday morning, July 26, 2017, at McLaren Medical Center, Flint at age 81.  Steve was born June 10, 1936, in Matamoro, Mexico, the son of Bernardo and Carmen (Rosa) Escamilla.  On August 16, 1958, Steve married Mary Lou Contreras at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Flint.  She survives him to cherish his memory. 

Steve retired from GM Truck and Bus after working there for 36 years.  He also had worked at Frank's Super Market and The I.G.A. Super Market.  Steve was an ordained minister and loved going to church.  He loved being with his family and playing his guitar.  He enjoyed cutting his grass and watching WWE Wrestling.  He loved spending time with his cat, Joe, and his dog, Butterfly. 

Other family members left to mourn his passing include his children, Steve Jr. (Nora) Escamilla of Lansing, Ernesto (Rita) Escamilla of Shepherd, Carmen (Juan) Alvarez of Farmington Hills, Antonio Escamilla of Chesaning, Evangeline Escamilla of Chesaning, and Prescilla Marie Escamilla of Chesaning; 26 grandchildren and 33 great grandchildren; his sister, Conception Rodriguez of Chesaning; his half-brother Marcos Garcia of Ohio; and other loving family. 

Those who have passed away before him include his parents, Bernardo and Carmen Escamilla; brothers, Matias, Carlos, Bernardo Jr., and Guadalupe; and his grandson, Tony Jr. 

Funeral services for Rev. Escamilla will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, August 1, 2017, at The New Wine Full Gospel Church, 734 Brady Street, Chesaning.  Pastor Jose Rodriguez will officiate.  Burial will follow at Resurrection Cemetery, Chesaning.  Visitation for family and friends will be from 1:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Monday July 31, 2017, at The New Wine Full Gospel Church.
