Mike was a pillar in Chesaning and will never be forgotten. To me he was like a celebrity when I was growing up. He was involved in so much and made so many things possible,in our little town! God bless!

So sorry for your loss. I remember Mike from my parents (Elmer and Pauline Gasper) they talked of him very fondly. I went to school with some of the daughters of Mike. You have my deepest sympathy.

During my time on the school board, the State of MI allowed school districts to grant diplomas to those that went to serve in WW2 before their high school graduation. Mike was one of those individuals. I had the honor and privilege to present Mike his high school diploma. It was a memorable moment for me.
He also made it a point to often look me up when he was at the VA. A very special man

Cousins, we would like to extend our deepest sympathies to you all. Uncle Mike may have lived one of the richest and fullest lives of most. He will be remembered for his exuberance and enthusiasm. As a student as OLPH, I remember "borrowing" his name for my Confirmation. We are currently in Glasgow, Scotland so will not be able to be there but he will be in our hearts and prayers.

Many respectful Thoughts and prayers go out Mike's children & their families. I'm sorry to you for your loss, and what a loss indeed. 💕
"Mike will certainly be missed" - his zest for life, enthusiasm, drive, larger than life sparkling sense of humor, and curiousity in all humanity are what we all enjoyed about him while in his presence (his Johnny Carson smile, jokes, stories, boom-box & traveling refreshment box in trunk were priceless). Many fond memories. "Thank you" too for your service to country Mike!!! You certainly had the tiger by the tail! "May God be welcoming you in his glory along with all his angels"!! Jan Coleman, & all our families. 😇

Uncle Mike was one of a kind, a pillar of the community. I have such fond memories of him and the business men who gathered for coffee at the round table in Showboat Restaurant early in the morning. (So Impressive!)
Or when I stopped in Lawton's gas station on the way to OLPH while Mike who was out motivating other business men, would empty his pocket full of coins in my little hand! I am sad for your loss. However, happy you are with your lovely bride after all these years. You will be missed, Love you all.

Our thoughts and prayers go out to the family. Mike's voice at our military funerals ringing out "bugler" to key the playing of taps, will be missed. More importantly, Mike will be missed as a fellow human being and a friend. May he truly, Rest In Peace.

I will miss Uncle Mike's infectious smile and laugh. I fondly remember the great times my aunts, uncles and cousins had at the Schlachter annual picnics and at the cottage at Higgins Lake. When our whole clan got together the laughter would make your ears ring.

My sincere condolences to all of you.

We were sorry to hear about Mike's passing. He was a good neighbor to our son Aaron Diffin. When my grandson was about two years old, we went to visit our grandson. He came out to the car all excited and said that he wanted us to meet his friend Mike. He took us over and there was Mike in his shed. I will always remember how Jaxon thought so much of Mike, as Mike did him.

MaryBeth and family, our thoughts and prayers are with you all. Knowning Mike for many many years. Yes he was my bus driver, and he had the 1st yellow school bus Chesaning Schools ever had Bus number 11. As we grew up we got to know your Mom, but Dad made a big impression on me as a new bride and desperately in need of a washer and dryer. Being young and totally unfamiliar with life, I took baby in hand and walked down to Gewritz Hardware and Appliance store in need of some help. Dad was there for me, asking well how do I pay for this. Well you just give us what you can per month or week and it'll be fine. That afternoon my new washer and dryer arrived. He was more then just a guy who worked st a store, he was a great awesome guy. Many memories, many stories but that's the one I will always cherish. I know this is a difficult time for all of you. But dads in Gods hands now and with his bride that left him so many years ago. Together in heaven sharing there love once again. Prayers go out to all of you. He's home and living an eternal life. Peace be with you, and may god give you the strength to get you all through this difficult time. God Bless Prayers to comfort all of you. Ed and Sally List

Mike was my hero since I was a small boy and he was home on leave. I kept my flattop haircut for decades because he told me to in the bakery when my mother introduced us. My idolation remained as I grew and followed him to the Chesaning Fire Dept as a recruit. I thank God for my hero and his great life in a big world and small town. RIP my friend.
