Passed away Wednesday morning, August 2, 2017, age 87, at MediLodge of Montrose. Her memorial service will be held 11:00 a.m. Friday, August 11, 2017, at Misiuk Funeral Home. Pastor Dawn Sherwood will officiate. Burial will follow at 2:00 p.m. that day at Goodrich Cemetery. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. Friday until time of the service.
Maxine was born in Atlas Twp., MI on March 9, 1930, the daughter of Adelbert C. and Lulu M. (McCormick) Betts. Maxine married Bruce E. Sherwood in Flint on January 23, 1955. She graduated from a branch college of UCLA with a Bachelor’s Degree in Nutrition. She had worked as a Dietitian at the City of Hope Hospital in Duarte, CA. Maxine was a member of the Clio United Methodist Church and enjoyed collecting dolls.
Mrs. Sherwood is survived by her beloved husband of 62 years, Bruce; foster daughter, Diane Fagan of TX; brothers, Jim Betts of Flint, Don Betts of MI; sister, Doris (Leon) McBride of Corpus Christie, TX; many nieces and nephews; and other loving family and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Bobby Betts; and son, Tim B. Sherwood.
