Mary H. Burk formerly of St. Charles, age 92, passed away Saturday morning, July 14, 2018, at the Chesaning Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. She was born in Detroit on May 20, 1926, a daughter of the late Cornelius and Gladys (Roose) Hasse. Mary lived most of her life in St. Charles. She was united in marriage to Leonard Burk in 1946. He preceded her in death in 1996.
Mrs. Burk co-owned and operated the Burk Egg Farm with her husband for many years. She also had worked as a real estate agent and sold home interior decorations. Mary was a member of the Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church of Chesaning. She enjoyed shopping at garage sales and gambling. She was a member of the Mothers Club, Breakfast Club, and various other groups.
Mary is survived by her daughter-in-law, Jan Burk of St. Charles; five grandchildren, Richelle (Nicolas) Elliott of St. Charles, Thomas Burk of Baltimore, MD, and Rachel (Ed) Ha, MaryKay (Eric) Cortez, and Jessica Zarebi, all of Las Vegas, NV; great-grandchildren, Alysia, Zachariah, Alexis, and Madison Elliott and Anthony and Allison Ha; her sister, Laura Lavaley; her brothers, Eugene (Pat) Hasse, Edwin Hasse, Allen (Sally) Hasse, and Ronald (Sue) Hasse; and many nieces and nephews. She was also preceded in death by her son, Leonard “Butch” Burk; daughter, Debra Zarebi; and a brother and sister-in-law, Robert and Margaret Hasse.
Pastor Joel Thomford will officiate at her funeral service on Tuesday, July 24, 2018 at 11 a.m. at Zion Lutheran Church in Chesaning. Final entombment will be in Oakwood Mausoleum in Saginaw. Visitation will be at the Misiuk Funeral Home in Chesaning on Monday from 2-8 p.m. and at the church on Tuesday from 10 a.m. until time of services at 11 a.m.
