Lori Ellen Karpuk of Chesaning, age 59, passed away Saturday, January 6, 2018, at St. Mary’s Hospital in Saginaw following a brief illness.  Her funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, January 10, 2018, at the Trinity United Methodist Church, 1629 Brady Road (M-57), Chesaning.  Visitation will be from 2:00 to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday at the Misiuk Funeral Home of Chesaning.  Her family will be present at the church to greet relatives and friends from 10:00 a.m. Wednesday until time of the funeral service.

 

Lori was born in Saginaw on March 17, 1958, the daughter of Paul Leroy and Lydia (Diffin) Poag.  Lori graduated from Chesaning Union High School in 1976.  She married Mark Alan Karpuk at St. Mary’s Church in Albee on July 27, 1979.  They made their home in Chesaning where they raised four children, Heather Ann Karpuk, Mark Alan Karpuk II, Matthew Paul Karpuk (Chelsea Kulhanek) and Katie Theresa Karpuk (Mike Hiland).  She had five grandchildren whom she loved dearly, Blake, Kali, Jade, Damien and Kaiden.

 

Lori worked at Delphi in Saginaw where she retired from in 2007.  She continued to work as a monitor at Big Rock Elementary in Chesaning where she was loved by the children and appreciated by the parents.  Lori spent her spare time enjoying the family cabin at Londo Lake in Hale and being best known for her strawberry jam.  She was loved dearly by her great group of girlfriends whom she has treasured since high school.  She was an avid supporter of her children and grandchildren’s school and sports activities.  She also enjoyed spending the day at the casino with her husband.

 

In addition to her husband, children and grandchildren, Lori is survived by her brother, Mike (Kim) Poag; sisters-in-law, Linda Poag and Susan Dupuis; mother-in-law, Theresa O’Deay; sister-in-law, Kathy (Richard) Righi; brother-in-law, Daryl Karpuk; sister-in-law, Mary Kay Smith (Pete Clinton); and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.  She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Paul Allen Poag and William (Bill) Leroy Poag; sister-in-law, Joanne Karpuk; and best friend, Sheila Chludil.
