Jerry L. Thiel

Jerry L. Thiel of Brady Twp., age 64, passed away Sunday, June 30, 2019, at Hospice House of Shiawassee County with his family at his side. 

He was born in Owosso on February 26, 1955, the son of Gerald L. and Norma Jean (Sims) Thiel.  Jerry lived in the Chesaning area all his life and graduated from Chesaning High School.  He was united in marriage to Karla Zoellner in Brady Twp. on August 8, 1981.

Mr. Thiel worked at Nexteer in Saginaw for over ten years.  He enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, his pets, and most of all, spending time with his family.

Those left to cherish his memory include his beloved wife of over 37 years, Karla; their daughters, Stephanie (Billy) Wallen of Elsie, Kristen (Josh) Mead of Muskegon, and Amanda Thiel (companion, Ryan Sullivan) of Brant; three grandchildren, Oran, Gavin, and Tristan; parents-in-law, Karl and Carol Zoellner of Brant; sister-in-law, Karen Zoellner of Owosso; special nephews, Keith, Kyle, and Kameron Krupp; his siblings, Edward (Colleen) Thiel of Brady Twp., Wendy Herbers of Owosso, Susan Van Buren of Owosso, and Timothy Thiel of Owosso;  and many nieces and nephews.  Those who have passed away before him include his parents, Jerry and Norma Jean Thiel; three brothers, Paul, Eldon, and Harry Thiel; and a sister, Rosemary Bemiss.

Cremation has taken place.  Pastor Tim Woycik will officiate at Jerry’s Celebration of Life service being held 4:00 p.m. Wednesday, July 3, 2019, at Misiuk Funeral Home of Chesaning.  Visitation at the funeral home will be from Noon Wednesday until time of the memorial service at 4:00 p.m.
