James “Jim” Leonard Hercl, age 76, passed away on June 21, 2018, at his residence in Port St. Lucie, FL. Born in Garfield Heights, Ohio, Jim moved to the Port St. Lucie area twenty years ago from Illinois.
He was a proud veteran of the United States Air Force and enjoyed flying after getting his private pilot's license. After thirty years, Jim retired from Murphy Motors as a freight coordinator. He was an avid golfer, and an usher for Immanuel Lutheran Church in Palm City for many years.
Jim is survived by his wife of thirty years, Marjorie (Goodrich) Hercl of Port St. Lucie, FL; sons, Gary (Lorna) Hercl of Texas; Timothy (Kiersty) Hercl of Illinois; and Paul (Kim) Hercl of Texas; step-sons, Stephen (Mary) Dudek of Colorado; Michael (Jacki) Dudek of Illinois; Darin Mengarelli of Florida, and Anthony (Diana) Mengarelli of Michigan; ten grandchildren; and brothers, John (Nancy) Hercl of Utah; and Robert Hercl of Illinois.
He was predeceased by his son, Daniel P. Hercl.
Rev. John R. Miller will officiate at Mr. Hercl’s memorial services, which will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, July 14, 2018, at the Misiuk Funeral Home of Chesaning. Inurnment with military funeral honors at the Riverside Cemetery of Elsie will follow the service. His family will be present at the funeral home Saturday to greet relatives and friends from 11:00 a.m. until time of the memorial service at 1:00 p.m.
