Jack Lewis Bugbee of Brant Twp., age 86, passed away Sunday evening, July 7, 2019, at Sparrow Hospital, Lansing.
He was born in Mio on October 17, 1932, the son of the late Lewis and Thelma Bugbee. Jack graduated from Mt. Pleasant High School. He was a proud and Honorably Discharged US Air Force Veteran, having served during the Korean War in South Africa. He was united in marriage to Barbara J. Ringler on April 22, 1971. They had lived in Chesaning before moving to Brant Twp. 37 years ago. Jack and Barbara enjoyed many winters in Florida and many summers in Frankfort, where he enjoyed fishing in Lake Michigan.
Mr. Bugbee was a Steamfitter and owned and operated Carmac Contractors, an industrial piping business in Alma before retiring in 1988. He served his apprenticeship with UA Local 85 Plumbers & Steamfitters and was a member for over 68 years. Jack was a long-time member of Trinity United Methodist Church of Chesaning. He had a love for hunting, fishing, golfing, maintaining his yard, and spending time with family. He enjoyed his woods, the wildlife, and feeding the birds. Jack was proud of his deep-sea spear fishing in South Africa.
Those left to cherish his memory included his beloved wife of over 48 years, Barbara; six children, Nancy (Paul) Doane of Wyoming, MI, Brian (Sheila) Bugbee of Midland, MI, Cathy (Tim) Parks of Grand Rapids, MI, Jeff (Peggy) Bugbee of Merrill, MI, Jackie (Phil) Rood of Comstock Park, MI, and Jamie (Matt) Jankowski of Bay City, MI; 15 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; two stepsons, Michael (Vicki) McCalpin and Patrick McCalpin (and friend, Nina); 3 step-grandchildren; four step-great-grandchildren; sister, Lynette (Gordon) Netzley of Shepherd, MI; brother, Bob (Jolene) Bugbee of Georgia; brother-in-law, Norman (Sally) Moon of Stanton, MI; many nieces and nephews; and other loving family and friends. He was also preceded in death by a grandson, Nicholas Bugbee; daughter and son-in-law, Connie and Doug Kennedy; sister, Janice Moon; and sister and brother-in law, Bonnie and Jim Carroll.
Rev. Timothy Woycik will officiate at the funeral services being held 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, July 10, 2019, at Trinity United Methodist Church, 1629 W. Brady Road (M-57), Chesaning. Private burial with military funeral honors will be later at Wildwood Cemetery of Chesaning. Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Tuesday at Misiuk Funeral Home and from 10:00 a.m. Wednesday at the church until time of the funeral services.
