George E. Larner of Chesaning, 
 
Beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend, went to be with Jesus on Friday, October 13, 2017, from Cartwright Hospice Residence of Saginaw.  Age 89.  A life-long resident of Chesaning, Michigan, George was born on July 15, 1928, to Jay and Ervena (VanSickle) Larner.  George married Marilyn Blakeslee, his beloved wife of 67 years on January 22, 1950.  She survives him.
 
In 1957, George graduated from Wisconsin School of Banking.  He was employed for 32 years as a banker.  He also enjoyed many years as a field man for Aunt Jane’s Pickles.
 
Many in the community may remember George as the ‘auctioneer’ at Boy Scout Blue and Gold banquets.  He was a longtime member of the Chesaning Rotary Club, serving as a past president, “duck race” ticket salesman and recipient of the Paul Harris Fellow award.  He was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church. George enjoyed the out of doors as a gardener, hunter, and fisherman.  And, he was a bowler and an avid Detroit Tigers fan.
 
Surviving him, besides his wife are: his children, Kathleen and (David) Tithof, Douglas and (Debra) Larner, Curtis and (Yvonne) Larner, Carol and (James) Young, and Charles and (Deborah) Larner; his 17 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren; a brother, Thomas and (Nancy) Larner; and many nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Beatrice; and brothers, Lloyd and Albert.
 
Friends and family may visit the family at Misiuk Funeral Home, 202 South Front Street, on Monday, October 16, 2017, from 2:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M.  A Christian celebration of George’s life will take place at 11:00 A.M. on Tuesday, October 17, 2017, at Trinity United Methodist Church, 1629 W. Brady Road (M-57), Chesaning, officiated by Pastor Timothy Woycik.  There will be an hour of visitation prior to the service at the church.
 
Those planning an expression of sympathy, in lieu of flowers, are encouraged to consider memorials to Trinity United Methodist Church of Chesaning, and/or The Chesaning Rotary Club.
