Frances D. Kopchitz, 93, of Chesaning passed away suddenly Saturday April 6, 2019 at Ascension, St. Mary's, Saginaw. She went peacefully to the Lord after suffering a cardiac arrest after minor surgery. She was surrounded by numerous beloved family members who loved her dearly.
Frances was born May 2, 1925 to the late Rudolph and Clara (Lunda) Hnilica. She was united in marriage to Frank C. Kopchitz on July 10, 1948. They enjoyed 57 years of marriage. He preceded her in death on November 16, 2005. Fran was employed by Citizen's Bank downtown Flint in the 1940's, Saginaw News, and Hehr Manufacturing before earning retirement. After retirement Fran and Frank spent 17 winters in Lakeland, Florida enjoying well deserved time there. They enjoyed simple times of sunshine, beaches, tourists attractions, cards and visits with family and friends. They spent many days with beloved John and Lucile Kopschitz (who have predeceased her). Also, camping was a favorite pass time in beautiful Michigan with family, children and grandchildren.
Frances was a wonderful homemaker. She enjoyed sewing in earlier years. She always found a good reason to make a lunch, dinner or picnic. She loved cooking and baking, including soups, delicious pies, and Christmas cookies. She enjoyed her Czech heritage with her sister, Marie, and many cousins by baking kolache, and listening and dancing to polka music. She adored her seven grandchildren and ten great grandchildren (while looking forward to a new granddaughter due April 14). They could do no wrong and she was always concerned about their welfare.
Surviving are: daughter, Christine Rovoll of Burt; son, Robert (Paula) Kopchitz of Chesaning; Grandchildren: Mark (Bethany) Rovoll of Midland, Melissa (Jason) Larson of Wake Forest, N.C., Matthew Rovoll (Andrea Pippo) of Bay City, Kristen (Troy) Garcia of Lakeland, Fl,. Also surviving are many loving nieces and nephews too numerous to mention. Frances was also preceded in death by beloved granddaughter, Nichole Kopchitz on March 13, 2019.
