Evelyn E. DeHues Obituary

Evelyn Elizabeth DeHues, formerly of Raytown, Missouri, age 95, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great and great-great grandmother, passed away on Thursday, February 21, 2019, at the home of her son in Chesaning, Michigan. She passed away peacefully into the arms of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on what would have been her husband’s 95th birthday.
 
Evelyn was born on November 25, 1923, in Kansas City Missouri, to John and Mina (Stephenson) Woodman. Having met in church at age 15, she later married Lyle (Bud) DeHues on January 3, 1943.
 
Evelyn was an office worker for the Bendix Corporation, Forrest T. Jones Insurance and part-owner of Eastside Flower Shoppe, all in Kansas City MO. She loved gardening, cooking, bird watching, quilting and sewing crafts. Her creations were available at Cracker Barrel gift shops and at Silver Dollar City in Branson, MO. Evelyn and Lyle enjoyed their years as members of the Kansas City Heart of America Model A Club, having worked together on the restoration of two Model A Fords. Her most cherished time was spent visiting with family. The couple were members of First Regular Baptist Church where she faithfully served as church organist. They later became members of First Baptist Church of Raytown.
 
Surviving are son, Larry (Lorraine) DeHues, Chesaning, Michigan, loved like a son, Richard (Sue) Mottor, Avon, Indiana, daughter-in-law, Norma DeHues, Tahlequah, Oklahoma, daughter-in-law, Janie DeHues, Grandview, Missouri; 8 grandchildren, Steve (Ivy) DeHues, San Isidro, Biliran, Aimee DeHues Hentosz, Monument, Colorado, Paul (Candice) DeHues, Coweta, Oklahoma, John (LeAna) DeHues, East Lynne, Missouri, Ryan DeHues, Chesaning, Michigan, Mandy (Derek) Roher, Lake Lotawana, Missouri, Megan (Estevao) Franco, Woodstock, Georgia, Andrew (Jeramie) Andehueson, Alameda, California; 15 great-grandchildren, Axton, Emily, Dylan, Alexis, Luke, Hunter, Eastyn, Bailey, Rylee, Mackenzie, Brody, Avery, Bennett, Marcelo, Judah; 3 great-great grandchildren, Eisley, Lakelynn, Zander; nieces, Pam Cary, Cindy Unruh; Nephew, Craig Woodman. She was predeceased by her parents, husband, son Lyle DeHues, brother and sister-in-law John (Vera) Woodman and infant sister.  
 
Cremation has taken place. A graveside service will be held at Brooking Cemetery, Raytown, Missouri at a later date. Online condolences may be made to the family at misiukfuneralhome.com.
