E. J. “Dick” Blakeslee

Of Owosso

 

Passed away early Saturday morning, November 19, 2016, at his home, surrounded by his loving family.  He was 85 years old.  His funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, November 23, 2016, at the Trinity United Methodist Church, 1629 Brady Street (M-57), Chesaning.  Rev. Timothy Woycik will officiate.  Military funeral honors will be given at the church following the funeral service.  Visitation for Mr. Blakeslee will be from 2:00-8:00 p.m. Tuesday at the Misiuk Funeral Home of Chesaning.  His family will be present at the church to welcome friends from 10:00 a.m. Wednesday until time of the funeral service.

 

E. J. “Dick” was born in Chesaning on March 14, 1931.  He was the son of Elgie and Florence Evelyn (Volkmer) Blakeslee.  Dick was a U.S. Veteran, having served in the Air Force.  He enlisted in 1952, and was a fighter pilot.  He received his Honorable Discharge in 1956, at the rank of First Lieutenant.   After leaving the military, Dick worked as an auto mechanic.  Later,  he retired from LaClair Sales of Chesaning as their Service Manager.

 

Those left to cherish his memory include his wife, Geraldine “Gerrie” Blakeslee of Owosso; his two children, Bob (Patricia) Blakeslee, Canada. Greta Blakeslee, Owosso. Three step-children, Pam (Don) Helvie, Doug (Andrina) Morence, and Lynda (Brad) Porter; two grandchildren, Brooke and Blake; many step-grandchildren; and other loving family and friends.  He was preceded in death by his parents.
