Clio Richard “Dick” Foster
Of Chesaning
 
Passed away early Friday morning, February 10, 2017, at his home, surrounded by his family. He was 81 years old. Funeral services will be held at 5:00 pm Sunday, February 12, 2017, at the Misiuk Funeral Home of Chesaning. Minister Mike Guest will officiate. Committal services with final military honors will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, February 14, 2017, in the chapel at the Eastlawn Memorial Gardens, 7475 East Holland Road, Saginaw. Dick's family will be present at the funeral home to welcome friends from 2:00 pm Sunday until time of the funeral service.
 
Dick was born in Alma, Michigan on April 18, 1935. He was the son of the late Carl and Marium (Shepard) Foster. Dick married Edith Boles in Henderson on November 30, 1958. He was a U.S. Marine Veteran, having served during the Korean War. 
 
Dick was a GM retiree, having worked as a crane operator at the Grey Iron Foundry. He was an active member of the Chesaning Church of Christ, where he also served as their Song Leader and Treasurer. He was a former member of the Chesaning Lions Club, had previously served on the Chesaning Village Council, and was a former Mayor Pro Tem. He was also a member of the Chesaning Village Zoning Board of Appeals.
 
Dick worked as a volunteer at Camp Quality and for Special Olympics. He volunteered working as a car-parker during the Chesaning Showboat festivities. Dick was also named the Rotary Citizen of the Year in 1992 for saving the life of Dr. Charles LaRue.
 
Those left to cherish his memory include his beloved wife, Edith; their three children, Dora Spannagel, Laura (Ken) Parrish, and Richard C. (Jennah) Foster, all of Chesaning; seven grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; his brothers, Vern (Freda) Foster of Ohio and Gilson (Pat) Foster of Texas; his sister, Beverly Reinhardt of Bay City; several nieces and nephews; and other loving family members and friends. Those who have passed before him include a grandson, Walter Ostrander; a brother, David Foster; and sisters, Mary Hosner, Velma Bosley, and Marie R.
