Kenneth Tarrant Obituary

TARRANT, Kenneth-It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Ken Tarrant, a beloved husband, father, brother, grandfather, teacher, and friend. Ken was born on July 16, 1946, to Wilmer and Wanda Tarrant in Montrose, Michigan. He departed from this world on February 17, 2024, surrounded by his loving family.

Ken's indomitable spirit was evident in his unwavering commitment to his family, his students, and his community. Despite facing numerous health challenges throughout his life, Ken remained steadfast in his pursuit of happiness, fulfillment, and service to others.

He is survived by his devoted wife, Marcella Tarrant to whom he wed on June 26, 1971. Ken's legacy lives on through his children, Ryan (Leah) Tarrant of Holt, MI, Sandra Tarrant (Lolita Burgess) of Fenton, MI, and grandchildren Quinn and Adrienne Tarrant who brought him immeasurable pride and joy.

Graduating from Montrose High School in 1964, Ken pursued his passion for education at Michigan State University, where he obtained his Bachelor’s Degree in Education in 1973.  A dedicated educator, Ken devoted 34 years of his life to teaching at Chesaning Union Schools.  Throughout his career, Ken inspired countless students with his passion for learning and his genuine care for their well-being.  This was particularly true during his last few years when he was able to teach art, a role he cherished as his dream job.

Ken's deep-rooted faith was evident in his longtime membership at Chesaning Trinity United Methodist Church, where he was a member for over 52 years.  He actively participated in church activities and served as one of the founding members of the Trinity Gardens. His love for gardening led him to become an Advanced Master Gardener through MSU Extension.

Ken's memory will be cherished by his siblings: Ronald, David (Sue), and Dennis (Kathy) Tarrant. He is also survived by his nieces and nephews: Lisa, Lori, Debbie, Gabriel, Aaron, Jeremy, Andrea, Jennifer, Lindsey, Andrew, Ellen, Emily, and Megan.  He was preceded in death by his parents, Wilmer and Wanda Tarrant, brother Thomas, and sister-in-law Carol.

A celebration honoring Ken’s life and legacy will be held at Trinity United Methodist Church, 1629 W. Brady Rd, Chesaning, Michigan 48616 on Saturday, February 24, 2024, at 11 a.m. Burial will be in Eureka Cemetery. Visitation will be held at Misiuk Funeral Home in Chesaning on Friday from 2-7 p.m. and again on Saturday at the church from 10 a.m. until time of services at 11 a.m.  In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Trinity United Methodist Church Gardens or Trinity United Methodist Memorial Fund in Ken's honor.

Ken Tarrant will be remembered for his kindness, compassion, and dedication to those he loved. His spirit will live on in the hearts of all who knew him, and his legacy of love and service. You may light a memorial candle or share a memory at misiukfuneralhome.com.
