Thomas P. Conklin

Of Saginaw

 

Passed away Friday, September 22, 2017, age 68, at Covenant Healthcare, Saginaw.  He was born in Owosso on April 21, 1949, the son of Paul and Margaret (Riley) Conklin. Tom grew up in Chesaning.  He graduated from the University of Michigan with a Master’s Degree in Social Work.  He had worked with Catholic Family Services in the Diocese of Saginaw since 1990. He was committed to serving, educating and bettering the lives of those he knew and those for whom he advocated.

 

Tom cared deeply for his family. He enjoyed car rides, traveling and learning new things. He will be remembered for his quick wit and strong faith. His family and friends knew they could always count on him.

 

Those left to cherish his memory include Kathy (Weaver) Conklin whom he married in 1971 and their four children, Amy and husband Keith Frederick of Hemlock, Aaron and wife Aubrey Conklin of Fort Worth, Texas, Adam and wife Kim Conklin of Cary, North Carolina, and Angie and husband Ben Andros of Auburn Hills; six grandchildren, Jared, Jason,  and Jacob Frederick and Max, Morgan, and Matt Conklin; his siblings, Susie and husband Bernie Uehlein of Chesaning, Anne and Bill Winiarski of Davison, Hugh Conklin of Oakley, and Don and wife Becky Conklin of Fort Defiance, Virginia. Other loving family and many friends.  He was preceded in death by his parents, Paul and Margaret Conklin, and his brother, Ed Conklin.

 

Tom's visitation will be from 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, September 27, 2017, at The Cathedral of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary, 615 Hoyt Street, Saginaw.  A Wake Service will be held at 7:00 p.m. Wednesday at the Cathedral.

 

The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, September 28 at The Cathedral of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary, 615 Hoyt Street, Saginaw.  Bishop Joseph Cistone will preside.  Fr. Jim Bessert will preach. The family will be at the Cathedral on Thursday morning starting at 10:00 am to welcome family and friends.

 

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the East Side Soup Kitchen, 940 E. Genesee Avenue, Saginaw, Michigan 48607
