Passed away unexpectedly Thursday, April 14, 2016, at his home at the age of 78. Cremation has taken place. His memorial service will be 11:00 a.m. Monday, April 18, 2016, at the New Lothrop Nazarene Church, 7406 S. Saginaw Street, New Lothrop. Pastor Paul Brashaw will officiate. His family will be present to greet friends at the church beginning Monday from 10:00 a.m. until time of the service.
Burial services will be held at 1:00 pm Saturday, July 30, 2016, at the Ridge Road Cemetery in Brady Township.
Pete was born December 25, 1937, the son of Leonard and Bessie Bates. He graduated from Chesaning High School. Pete is an U.S. Air Force Veteran. He was a mechanic and a member of the Chesaning Police Reserve.
Those left to mourn his loss include his three children, Kita (Mitch) Henige of New Lothrop, Chad (Waynie) Bates of Tacoma, Washington, and Roy (Maike) Bates of Pennsylvania; four grandchildren; his brothers and sisters; and nieces, nephews, and cousins.
