Passed away Sunday August 23, 2015, at the age of 93 years at the Ashley Care Center. Neil was born on November 20, 1921, in Chesaning to Laurence and Mary (Nixon) Harris. He married Ethel (Salzwedel) Harris in the Robinson Methodist Church in 1942. They celebrated 70 years of marriage on September 5, 2012. She preceded him in death on December 31, 2012. Neil was a member of the Trinity United Methodist Church in Chesaning. He was a lifelong farmer. He enjoyed his family, playing cards, and life.

Surviving are one son and three daughters and their spouses, Terry and Kathy Harris of Manchester, Lynn and Richard Givens of Ovid, Ruth and Jim Tafel of Alto, Carla and Jim Darling of Chesaning; one sister, Bernadine Brady; nine grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Ethel; his parents; one son, Nelson Harris; and a sister, Elda Oesterreicher.

Visitation and funeral services will all take place on Thursday, August 27, 2015, at the Trinity United Methodist Church in Chesaning. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until the start of the funeral service at 11 a.m.  Rev. Tim Woycik will officiate.  Burial will follow at Wildwood Cemetery.

Neil’s body retired from farming in 1998, his mind continues to farm into eternity. A special thanks is given to the Ashley Care Center caregivers in helping Neil do his daily chores of milking cows to harvesting sugar beets over the past few years. Your outstanding love and care of our dad is appreciated. Memorial contributions may be made to Trinity United Methodist Church or Ashley Care Center.
