Larry Beldyga

Of Burt/Clio

Passed away peacefully at this residence on Sunday, June 4, 2017, surrounded by his loving family.  Larry was born in Flint, MI on November 23, 1946, the son of Ted and Mary Beldyga.  He attended Maple Grove Catholic School before transferring to and later graduating from Chesaning High School.  He entered the US Army and proudly served as a Paratrooper in the 101st Airborne and 8th Infantry Division until his Honorable Discharge in 1968. He retired from Saginaw Steering Gear General Motors after 34 years in skilled trades.  He married Carol Kulhanek on January 14, 1978.  They lived in Burt for 37 years, only recently moving to Clio.

Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Carol and his three sons, whom he always considered to be his best friends, Nicholas (Lindy) Beldyga of Burt, Dr. Brent (Hannah) Beldyga of Midland, and Chad (Chelsea) Beldyga of Flushing; his beloved grandchildren, Tessa, Cole “Mr. C”, Eden, Oakley, Asher, Ryan and Kate, all of which he loved to the moon and back; his mother, Mary Beldyga; siblings, Gene (Sue) Beldyga, Gary (Janet) Beldyga, Ted (Mary) Beldyga, and Rosemary (John) Seebeck; three brothers-in-law, Robert Kulhanek, David (Jalene) Kulhanek, and Ken Kulhanek; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and other loving family and friends.  Those who have passed before him include his father, Ted Beldyga; his parents-in-law, William and Lucille Kulhanek; and an infant sister, Alice.

Larry loved to travel with family and friends, ride his Harley, golfing; and having campfires with his many Higgins Lake friends.  He was a fun guy who lived life to the fullest and made friends wherever he went.  He will be sadly missed by all of his family and grandchildren, his former co-workers, and his many friends from Burt, Birch Run, Clio, Higgins Lake, Florida, and beyond.  Larry was a proud Patriot Guard Rider, and he belonged to the Birch Run Knights of Columbus, American Legion, and the Mid Michigan Old Gas Tractor Association.  He was a former member of the Chesaning Rotary Club.  Larry was a 4-Pitch Baseball Coach for many years in Birch Run and a 12-year member of the Birch Run School Board.

In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that donations be made to the Ss. Francis and Clare Catholic Parish Church in Birch Run or the Wounded Warrior Project.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, June 8, 2017, at the Ss. Francis and Clare Catholic Parish Church, 12157 Church Street, Birch Run.  Rev. Fr.
