Passed away Tuesday, March 7, 2017, at her home, surrounded by her loving family. She was 98 years old. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, March 11, 2017, at St. Michael Catholic Church of Maple Grove. Burial will follow at the St. Michael Catholic Cemetery of Maple Grove. Visitation will be from Noon-8:30 p.m. Friday at the Misiuk Funeral Home of Chesaning. A Vigil Service will be held at 7:00 p.m. Friday at the funeral home and followed by a Knight of Columbus Rosary at 8:00 p.m. Her family will be present at the church to welcome friends from 10:00 a.m. Saturday until time of the Funeral Mass.
Imelda was born February 19, 1919, in Detroit, Michigan. She was the daughter of Wenceslaus “Wence” and Cecelia (Kalt) Yaklin. Imelda married Albert J. Knieper in Detroit on October 23, 1937. They were married for over 45 years before he passed away on December 25, 1982.
Mrs. Knieper was a longtime member of the St. Michael Catholic Church of Maple Grove. She was a member of its Daughters of Isabella and the Altar Society and also a member of the Maple Grove Senior Citizens. Imelda adored her family and was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother.
Those left to cherish her memory include her eight loving sons, Jerome (Pat), Edward (Dee), Brother Luke, C.SS.P., Richard (Jackie), Ken (Nancy), Andy (Paulie), Dave (Joyce), and John (Carolyn) Knieper; her six loving daughters, Margaret (Jerry) Dugal, Barbara (John) Bruckman, Marie (Jerry) Zervan, Dorothy (Larry) Wendling, Betty (Mike) Hechinger, and Linda (Lynn) Miller; a daughter-in-law, Therese Knieper; her 45 grandchildren; 85 great-grandchildren; seven great-great-grandchildren; a brother, Vince Yaklin; a sister, Theresa Steele; many nieces and nephews; and other loving family and friends. Those who have passed before her include her beloved husband, Albert; an infant son, Phillip; a daughter, Aileen and her husband Phil Conley; two sons, Robert and his wife Doreen Knieper and Tom Knieper; her brothers, Robert, Harold, Charles, Donald, Richard, David, and Anthony; and her sisters, Rita and Dolores.
Contribution envelopes are available at the funeral home for those wanting to make charitable donations in memory of Mrs. Knieper.
