Edith Brainerd

Edith Lucille (Smith) Brainerd passed away Friday, November 13th, 2015 at McLaren Regional Medical Center, Flint, MI. Age 90. Pre deceasing her was her loving husband Alvin J. Brainerd Sr., in 1998, her beloved daughter Eva Joy McClellan in 2003, and son in law Donald McClellan in 2010. Those left to mourn her loss but celebrate her blessed life include her son Alvin J. "Jim" Brainerd Jr., and his wife Eunice of Flint. Grandchildren: Alvin J. Brainerd lll, Racine, Wisconsin, Kelly (Ted) Peterson, Bellaire, MI, Nila (Barry) Fisher, Gaylord, MI, Paul (Debbie) Kietzman, Carney, MI, Julie (Dave) King, Washington, MI., and Eric Brainerd, Flint, MI. 18 great grandchildren and 4 great-great grandchildren. Brother and sisters: Roy Smith, Cora Layer, Hazel Spencer and Betty Vance. Including numerous nieces and nephews.

Edith and Alvin had been a long time resident of Chesaning and lived on Line St. They then resided in Florida for many years before coming back to Michigan to live in St. Helen for the last 20 years. When in Chesaning she had worked at the Ben Franklin Store. In St. Helen, she enjoyed helping to run the "WeCare" store as community service that helped those in need. She was an active member of the Community Baptist Church, in St. Helen. Edith was strong in her faith, loved extending a helpful hand to those less fortunate, and enjoyed spending time with her family playing card games, scrabble and yahtzee.

Visitation and Funeral Service will all take place on Tuesday, November 17th, 2015, at The Misiuk Funeral Home, Chesaning. Visitation will start at 12 pm noon with a funeral service at 2:00 pm. Pastor Ken Peterson from the Community Baptist Church of St. Helen will officiate. Burial will take place at Wildwood Cemetery, Chesaning. Memorials may be made to the WeCare Store in St. Helen or the Community Baptist Church, St. Helen.
