Passed away Friday morning, May 13, 2016, at the Saginaw Geriatrics Home.  His age was 86 years.  His funeral service will be held at 3:00 p.m. Sunday, May 15, 2016, at the Misiuk Funeral Home of Chesaning.  Cremation will follow the service.  His son, Bill Gaertner will officiate.  Dale’s family will be present at the funeral home to welcome friends from 1:00 p.m. Sunday until time of the service.

 

Dale was born in Thomas Twp., Saginaw County on ­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­August 28, 1929, the son of Robert and Gladys (Engle) Gaertner.  Dale married Augusta Holstrom on August 28, 1948, in Saginaw.  She preceded him in death on February 13, 1994.

 

Dale worked as a heavy equipment operator and a mechanic for Krueger Construction, Hemerline Excavating, and Bierlein and retired from Bierlein.  He loved to hunt and fish and just spend time in the woods.  He was an avid Tigers and Lions fan.

 

Dale is survived by his sons, Steve (Terry) Gaertner and Bill (Stephanie) Gaertner; five grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; brother, Bruce Gaertner; and many nieces and nephews.  He was also preceded in death by two sons, Dale Jr. and Rick; a brother, Robert; and a sister, Lorraine.
