Passed away Tuesday, September 13, 2016, at St. Mary’s of Michigan Medical Center in Saginaw. He was 81 years old. His funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, September 16, 2016, at the Misiuk Funeral Home of Chesaning. Rev. Norman R. Beckwith, Sr. will officiate. Cremation will follow the service. His family will be present at the funeral home to welcome friends from 10:00 a.m. Friday until time of the service.
Byron was born in Saginaw County, Michigan on January 27, 1935, the son of Emil and Gertrude Irene (Mead) Zoellner. Byron married Sharon L. Barror in his home in Burt, MI on May 28, 1955.
Red was a retired iron worker and a member of Local #25. He enjoyed woodworking and made many special items for his family and friends. His creations also included canes, walking sticks, and birdhouses. Red also enjoyed hunting and fishing and he loved vegetable gardening.
Those left to mourn his loss include his beloved wife of 61 years, Sharon; their four children, Adrian (Kenlyn) of Oakley, Chris (Paula) of Chesaning, Eric (Judy) of Chesaning, and Wendy (Dan Halligan) of St. Charles; his four grandchildren, Christopher (Keely) Zoellner of St. Charles, Anndrea Ruth of Chesaning, Michelle (Stuart) Henn of Illinois, and Aaron Zoellner of Chesaning; six great-grandchildren, Madison and Nathan Ruth and Hunter, Ryder, Sunnie and Valerie Zoellner; his brother, Karl (Carol) Zoellner of Brant; many nieces and nephews; and his two hunting buddies, Jim and John Emeott. He was preceded in death by his parents; three sisters; four brothers; and a daughter, Annette.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the family. Envelopes are available at the funeral home.
