Bruce Jarvis of Chesaning, formerly of Davisburg, Drayton Plains/Waterford, passed quietly away Monday, November 13, 2017, in Saginaw, MI after battling leukemia. Born to LaVern and Hilda Jarvis on June 8, 1935, he was the youngest of 12 children.
He served in the United States Army from 1956-1959 and later worked for the Pontiac Police Department for 30 years. He retired as a Detective on the Homicide Bureau and was an active member of the Pontiac Chapter of the Fraternal Order of Police. An avid outdoorsman, he loved hunting and fishing in every season of the year.
He married his high school sweetheart, Colleen Parke, in 1954. Together they had three children, Doug, Steve, and Scott. Colleen passed away in 1997. He later married Kay Gross of Chesaning and relocated there, became an active member of the large Gross family, and lived there until his passing.
He is survived by his wife, Kay, and her family of 35, in addition to his sisters, Ellen Thayer of Waterford and Barbara Little of Troy; his children, Drs. Douglas (Carol) Jarvis of Elkhart, IN and Scott Jarvis of Dearborn; his grandchildren whom he adored, Colin (Chelsea), Evan, Benjamin, Bryan, Lynette and Kassia; great-grandchildren, Owen and Fiona, and many nieces and nephews.
His parents, his first wife, Colleen, his son, Steve, his granddaughter, Amanda, his grandson Kenny, and 9 of his siblings predeceased him.
A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, November 18, 2017, from 5pm-8pm at Overtyme Grill, Taproom & Smokehouse, 4724 Dixie Highway, Waterford.
In lieu of flowers, please make a memorial contribution to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital.
